RSV info..

Hi everybody!! I just wanted to get some info out there for those of you who might be visiting us, or that Ron or I may come in contact with. RSV is a serious virus, and we are entering the crucial time of the year for it's spread (October through April).
Below are some links with info (thanks to Val..stole em from your post ;).
Our boys are at increased risk due to the fact that they are preemies (their other increased risk factors include being twins and just being boys). RSV presents as a common cold in most healthy adults and children, but in preemies who were born without adequate lung capacity/low birth weight, it can lead to hospitalization and even more serious complications.
Although our little ones (not so little anymore :) are doing great, they are still at increased risk.
We are starting the Synagis shots next month, but they are still at risk.
For these reasons we will be limiting our outings, and would of course still love visitors, but ask that those who do visit please take precautions to help prevent our guys from getting sick!

Here are a couple of links with info!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!
more fun updates soon :)

RSV is no joke. you are smart to wrn folks about risks and ways to help keep the boys safe, and even smarter for limiting outings. it is so hard to keep kids healthy, even the ones that arrive into the world risk-free and mega-healthy. tony and i weren't blessed with those kinds of kids either, so i feel you 100%.

my boys were each hospitalized twice (for five days at a time and each via ambulance once) for asthm-related breathing problems before the age of 18 months. there is nothing more terrifying than seeing your baby struggling for air.

and one a caveat.....there may be family members who don't "understand" that your kids are just a bit more vulnerable and will give you shit for not doing the normal things with them doing cold and flu season. just ignore them and do what you know is best. my kids get knocked down by the simplest little virusses that other kids will get over in just a few days. you are not overreacting. don't ever let them make you feel that you are.

over and out.
